Hi! My name is Elena (uh-LANE-uh), and I am a sophomore at UNE majoring in Marine Science with a Marine biology concentration. After graduation, I want to do research in my field or work with animals in a rescue and rehabilitation center. My dream would be to help rescue and rehab sea turtles down in Florida or somewhere in Central America. Right now, I’m working in an aquaculture lab under the direction of Dr. Carrie Byron. In lab, we research blue mussels and how they are being affected by the warming of the coast. As of this summer, I have my own research project which is super exciting to say! Outside of school, I love listening to music, dancing, watching and playing sports, and hanging out with friends (and my dogs). If you cannot tell by the photos or my career path, I like the ocean.
